A photography group who meet monthly in South London pubs are exhibiting a collection of work at the Sun & Doves in Camberwell from November 26th.

Formed in early 2008, Effra FC began as a group of individuals who met thanks to the photo sharing website flickr, a shared connection to Brockwell Park and a chance meeting in a corner shop. The original collective of “Cool Kids of Brixton” and “Guardianistas of Herne Hill” is now over 80 members strong and has members from Crystal Palace, Tulse Hill, Dulwich and even one ‘rogue’ north Londoner.

The exhibition will feature the work of around 16 members, giving a taste of the varied images and photographic styles that are contributed to the flickr group. The opening night will also feature a projection showcasing the work of the wider group and an alternative take on the traditional comments book, with members of Effra FC taking portraits of guests displaying their thoughts on the exhibition.

Effra FC has developed a reputation locally for boasting an impressive archive of images. Photographs from the group have been projected onto buildings, through windows, inside various local pubs by slideshow and adorned the walls of empty shops in old DVD cases. This is the first time that the group have organised a full exhibition dedicated to their own work.

All prints will be for sale, as will a book accompanying the exhibition.
